The Daily Gripe!

9/2/06

Being the opinionated person that I am; I know you didn't think I was like that. :)  I decided that I would share some of them with you, more for fun than anything else, and usually on a daily basis.  Hence "The Daily Gripe".  I have also set up an email account dailygripe@macsmodeling.com especially for anyone to send their "Gripe" to me, and I will put it up along with your name, unless you want to be anonymous.

Although the site is limited to F1 models the "Daily Gripe" is open to everything in the World.

Today's gripe: "Tony George Liar! Liar!"

There is this guy, Tony George, who's family own the Indianapolis Speedway.  One of the greatest venues in the world for Oval open wheel racing, most famous for the Indy 500.

It seams that good old boy Tony, a few years ago decided there needed to be another open wheel format, that would be cheaper than Champ (CART) and should only be run on ovals, in the tradition of American racing.

Of course most of you are well aware of it, and also decided he had deeper motives.

Of course no matter what anyone said, he denied he was trying to put CART out of business, and he wanted to own the series.  IRL should really be called TGRL, Tony George Racing league.

He almost succeeded. CART went broke but survived and is building back up, but what happened with IRL? Yes it is the racing series in the true American style....OVAL's only! NO IT ISN'T!  Liar Tony George! He lied from the beginning! They are racing on street courses, which he swore would never be, he wants to own CART as well.  He is destroying the spirit of open wheel racing.

I believe there will be a big shift back into CHAMP/CART cars and the Indy 500 will have prestige again, which has not since the IRL took it over.  But that will be the only part of it Tony can have

He did a nice job with the F1 track at Indianapolis.  It is great for spectators and the price is right.  That's the only good thing I can say about him.

I wish and hope Tony George looses the IRL and that CHAMP cars will return to the stature the enjoyed and have nothing to do with him.  Leave him to be a track owner, not a series owner. Little MF!
